Description
Last year Mayor’s Cup drew over a thousand people to Plattsburgh’s City Beach, and this year a myriad of activities are planned throughout the day. Parking is free for everyone on Saturday! The Cabana Bar will be open and food trucks will be onsite as well. There will be a 50/50 raffle and tickets can be purchased for a chance to win all sorts of fun raffle prizes.
• 5K race. Enjoy this beautiful 5k loop that takes you on a lovely wooded path that begins and ends right at the beach. Registration begins at 9:00am and race starts at 9:30am. Fee $25 ($30 on day of race). Register at www.mayorscup.com
• Kids Fun Run (free) begins at 11:00am. The 1k race along the beach is for kids 12 and under.
• Stewart’s Ice Cream. Nothing tastes better than ice cream on the beach, especially when it is free. Thank you Stewart’s!
• Sandcastle & Sculpture Contest sponsored by NAMI (National Association on Mental Illness) takes place throughout the morning with a rolling registration and competition from 9:30am - 1:00pm. Judging will take place at 1:00pm and prizes will be given for different categories (12 and under, 13 and over and family). NAMI will also be giving out free sand buckets at 10:00am on the beach front to anyone who has a desire to build sandcastles (while supplies last)!
• Price Chopper/Market 32- Giant Coloring Mural. Kids of all ages will enjoy adding their color and creative flare to this wonderful supersized mural! • Open Play Volleyball Tournaments. Create your own team and your own fun.
• MLPBS Family-Friendly Activity & Book Giveaway. Visit the MLPBS tent for a hands-on PBS KIDS activity, suitable for kids ages 3-8. Children and teens who stop by get to take home a free book, courtesy of the Hallock Giving Library!
• NCCI Snap and Smile Pavilion. North Country Center for Independence's Snap and Smile Pavilion will feature a photo booth with festive summer props such as a kayak and sailing gear - perfect for capturing fun memories of the day. There will also be games, giveaways, and engaging activities for kids, including fossil making and identification. Summer Fun for the whole family!
