Visit Santa and Mrs. Claus on Candy Cane Lane

Drive-through Christmas event; Volunteers needed

By By Jennifer Meschinelli December 3, 2020

CHAZY - With this holiday season being amidst a pandemic, Santa and Mrs. Claus put their heads together to find a way to spread joy to the families of our community while maintaining social distancing guidelines.

With the help of all on Santa's elves, the main entrance and around the pond to Chazy school will be decorated like Candy Cane Lane with beautiful Christmas decorations, music and goodie bags.

Come and see Santa and Mrs. Claus on Candy Cane Lane while maintaining social distancing from the comfort and safety of your vehicle. Event will be held at Chazy School on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 5:30 - 8 p.m.

HOW IT WORKS

As you enter candy cane lane, you will be greeted by one of Santa’s elves and stop at the double-sided contact-less mailbox to collect your special Christmas goodies. We ask for a rough head count on the # of kiddos to make sure enough goodies bags are prepared. as you drive through Candy Cane Lane, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be under the awning to wave to the kids as they enjoy the Christmas music and lights.

This is a one-day event, run and organized entirely by community volunteers so come and spread some Christmas cheer and see Santa, Mrs. Claus, and all the elves!

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Volunteers are needed to gather yard decorations, blow up decorations and lights to make candy cane lane. Generators are needed to run lights as well.

We also need businesses to donate candy and/ or Christmas bags to put candy in. Please let me know if you can help us. I really need a lot of volunteers as well as lawn decorations and lights to make this a super special event for the kids. A lit tree and sitting area for Santa and lights to wrap around pillars is needed. Looking for a sign that says" Candy Cane Lane with an arrow if anyone is crafty.

We will need plenty of "elves" that evening as well. This event will be like a reverse parade: Cars will enter Candy Cane Lane; Pick up a bag of candy while listening to Christmas music; and then finally make their way to see Santa and Mrs. Clause all from the warmth of your car.

Please help us make this a success for the kids in our community during this hard time. Merry Christmas! Message Kathy Ryan on Facebook or call 518-578-7123 if you can help.
